But, what is so different about blogging professionally and blogging for fun? To write content for a successful blog comes down to these factors:
Jon Morrow has had the biggest impact on my writing skills. Jon is wheelchair-bound and is one of the world's top bloggers and blogging trainers.
His 'Freedom Machine' course will show you how to identify a group of people (or Tribe) of people interested in your specialist topic. How to spot topics which interest them. How to plan your posts, how to write your posts and how to promote your blog.
I've taken the Freedom Machine course and applied it to my posts for websites to which I contribute. With his training and applying what I learnt, many of my posts now appear on page one of Google. Some posts are now number one on Google. It's not cheap but the course has been a worthwhile investment in my career.
A big challenge for some is typing, or handwriting notes in an interview, or your blog. Unless you're slick at writing Shorthand, it's difficult to make accurate notes in an interview.
Of course, you can record your thoughts on your smartphone and use it like a dictaphone. But, it takes a long time to type the notes when playing back your recording. A 40-minute interview can take three hours to type up.
What if you don't have time to type up recordings or handwritten notes? The answer is - use a transcription app!
Audio transcription apps automatically type notes in a meeting or an interview. Using your smartphone, a voice transcription will save you time and effort. Audio transcription apps are not 100% accurate, however. You will have to edit the notes they take, but the apps are still faster than writing the notes up from a recording or written notes.
Here are some free and paid-for transcription apps for Android and iOS:
